My Building Process
❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁❁
My process is still developing and ranges from various techniques depending on the animal I choose to make. I don't do anything fancy when it comes to starting my animal forms, I just use the basics of hand building such as coil, slab and pinch-pot.
As for timing I only spend three days on building to prevent the sculpture from getting to dry as well as to avoid dryness differences between the clay to prevent cracking.
Day one- I build the major structure and get the overall shape of the animal
Day two- I start adding the basic features of the animal like lips, eyes, nose, beak, etc.
Day Three- I start to detail and turn all the basic features into what makes the animal look alive!
Then I let the work sit in a plastic bag for a week before slowing exposing the clay to air. By week 3 the work is ready to come out fully out of the bag and finish drying till it is bone dry.
